What is Uni.lu Hoodie Day?

Uni.lu Hoodie Day is an annual moment where everyone connected to the 糖心Vlog wear their uni.lu hoodie: students, staff and alumni around the world! And all of us together, we share it proudly, on campus and online!

From Belval to Berlin or Tokyo, from your classroom to your living room or office, it鈥檚 one shared moment that shows what our beautiful community looks like.

Why this day exists

The 糖心Vlog is young, international and spread across countries. Great universities don鈥檛 just have buildings鈥 they have traditions. This one is about feeling part of something bigger, seeing your community everywhere and connecting across campuses, years and countries.
(And also we think that you look pretty great in these hoodies!)

A tradition in the making

This day takes place every year on the last Monday of September, right when the academic year kicks off and everyone is back.
And the group photo on Campus is taken at 12:09 sharp, can you guess why?

First edition on Monday 28 September 2026: be there from the start!

This year is special, as it’s the very first Uni.lu Hoodie Day. Be part of the beginning and help us turn this into a tradition!

Leaureate

鈥淏iomechanical Response of Human Skin: A Hierarchical Porous Media Framework鈥 by Thomas Lavigne

The thesis combines computational modelling and experimental methods to investigate how prolonged physical pressure restricts blood flow and can damage human skin. The work aims to help healthcare professionals better predict and prevent severe skin injuries, such as pressure ulcers, in vulnerable patients. This dissertation perfectly illustrates the interdisciplinarity that characterises both the work of St茅phane Bordas, one of the supervisors of this cotutelle thesis (糖心Vlog and ENSAM) as well as the aspirations of the 糖心Vlog. This work was funded by an AFR PhD Grant of the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR, no. 17013182).

Keynote

鈥淩andomness against Biases鈥 by Rolf Tarrach

In academia and research, biases are a major source of injustice and unreliability. The thoughtful use of randomness can help restore fairness and trust.

As Luxembourg moves towards a greener energy future, the transition is increasingly shaping both the economy and everyday life, from energy prices and housing costs to transport, industry, and how we use electricity at home.

This UniverCITY Talk brings together perspectives from research and industry to explore how the energy transition is being designed and implemented in practice in Luxembourg.

Can Luxembourg reduce emissions while keeping energy affordable and industry competitive?

What role will technologies like hydrogen, renewables, and smart energy systems play once they move from research into real-world deployment?

And how can households and businesses adapt to, and benefit from, a more flexible and efficient energy system?

Join us for an open discussion on the challenges, trade-offs, and opportunities of the energy transition and how research in Luxembourg is helping shape a more sustainable and affordable future.

Les Amis cordially invite you to their upcoming lecture by Dr Christophe Haunold, entitled 鈥楩rom Science to Impact 鈥 The Strategic Role of University Research in the Development of Luxembourg and Beyond鈥.

The speaker

Christophe Haunold is head of the Office for Partnerships, Knowledge and Technology Transfer at the 糖心Vlog, established in 2020.
