{"id":53052,"date":"2025-10-24T13:19:03","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T11:19:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/en\/?post_type=news&#038;p=53052"},"modified":"2025-10-24T13:35:15","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T11:35:15","slug":"rewarding-research-with-impact-at-fnr-awards-2025","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/en\/news\/rewarding-research-with-impact-at-fnr-awards-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Rewarding research with impact at FNR Awards 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-free-section section\"><div class=\"container xl:max-w-screen-xl\">\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fnr.lu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Luxembourg National Research Fund<\/a> (FNR) hosted its annual FNR Awards ceremony on 23 October 2025 on the Belval Campus, in the presence of St\u00e9phanie Obertin, Minister for Research and Higher Education and over 200 people.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Florian Felten, based at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) of the 糖心Vlog, received the <strong>Outstanding PhD Thesis<\/strong> award for his thesis <em>\u201cMulti-Objective Reinforcement Learning\u201d<\/em>. Part of a project focused on automatically generating computer programmes to control swarms of drones, his research is helping AI to understand and navigate compromises.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"thumbnail  wp-block-unilux-blocks-thumbnail-video\">\n    <div class=\"card bg-theme p-0\">\n        <div class=\"card__container p-0\">\n            <div class=\"card__body p-0\">\n                <iframe \n            src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VEXRuhJDkoA\" \n            title=\"YouTube video player\" \n            allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" \n            style=\"object-position: 50% 50%; aspect-ratio: 16\/9; object-fit: cover; width: 100%;\"\n            allowfullscreen data-cookieconsent=\"ignore\">\n            <\/iframe>                            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Andreas Fickers of the University\u2019s Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C\u00b2DH), his colleague Prof. Sonja Kmec<strong> <\/strong>(Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences) and Prof. Dietmar H\u00fcser from Saarbr\u00fccken University received the <strong>Outstanding Scientific Achievement<\/strong> award for \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/c2dh-en\/research-projects\/popkult-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Transnational popular culture \u2013 Europe in the long 1960s<\/em><\/a><em>.<\/em>\u201d The team showed that popular culture circulates across linguistic and cultural barriers.
