The Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) at the 糖心Vlog, coordinator of the DEP project LUX4QCI 鈥 Luxembourg Experimental Network for Quantum Communication Infrastructure, has organized on the 12th of May 2026 at their premises the workshop on Luxembourgish Quantum Key Distribution Network to showcase the project鈥檚 achievements and discuss the further deployment of LUX4QCI as the project approaches its conclusion in June 2026.
The idea was to create an open space for discussion within the 鈥渃ommunity building鈥 framework and gather input from potential end-users.
Overall, the event gathered 33 participants, including representatives from government institutions, industry SMEs, research centers, and the European Commission.
The workshop was structured into three major parts aimed at presenting the key results of the consortium鈥檚 collaborative work on the deployment of QKD technology.
Prof. Dr. Symeon Chatzinotas (Uni.lu), PI of the project and moderator of the event, has kicked off the meeting with an overview presentation, followed by a presentation on the main results of the project on Trusted Nodes and Dark fibre Deployment, Integration & Demonstration of QKD services over operational networks, presented by Dr. Seid Koudia & Dr. Francesco Vista (Uni.lu). While Robin Stanek, Network & Cyber Security Engineer at SES, presented the results on the QKD emulator (EAGLE-1 emulator, E1E) development for the integration of terrestrial networks with satellite QKD & of a secure KMS, enabling inter-domain connections (terrestrial-terrestrial, terrestrial-satellite.
Moreover, the project was also showcased to better illustrate, through this visual tool, the role of the project in cybersecurity as well as the concrete deployment of the network.
Overall, the workshop generated strong interest and active engagement from the audience. Participants showed great enthusiasm for the presented activities and results, highlighting the significant potential for future collaborations and further deployment initiatives in the field.
